I’ve not tried using the Parallel port ak21 different interrupt settings – to be honest once the USB solution worked I just punched the air and carried on being an architect who could print his own drawings. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.

Of course it would disappear when WIN 10 lost the parallel port. Windows 7 Ultimate and my peripherals have worked perfectly since I virtualised the Win7 machine, and hosted it on a Win10 machine with Hyper-V. I have the same question The only way to still use my printer was to plt a parallel to USB adapter.


In installing the cable, I read somewhere that it is important to connect it to the computer first and let Windows’ plug-n-play discover lpf as a USB printer. Beware, however, all sales final since TG was sold. I will report again if I run into any problems. I too have fixed the problem by using a USB converter cable.

Several Microsoft support engineers responded to my pleas for help in this forum, and I had two hour-long interactive sessions with Microsoft engineers where they took control of my computer. But the “Try not to use an interrupt” trick did work at least temporarily.


That is exactly the one I bought from Walmart. However the drivers for those printers are up to date. This created another problem with the customer’s line of business program that runs in the VM.

This has been working for about 4 days now. Yes this is a completely ridiculous. The LoB program couldn’t configure any sk12 because it couldn’t access the Windows 7 printer control panel. But since it sounds like this would only work till the next reboot, instead I plugged the USB cable from the printer into my KVM switch.

Parallel to USB converter

It isn’t getting any easier. Even when resuming from Sleep mode, I am able to print without any issues. This worked for me with my ancient Lexmark ED connected to a desktop, which was connected xk12 the printer parallel port because the USB port was already connected to a laptop.
